Wonderful collection of some of the best Byzantine wall paintings,sculptures and icons I have ever seen.Needs a couple of hours to really enjoy and worthwhile reading up on it beforehand so as not to miss the highlights.

Byzantine history is not too long and this museum displays the development extremely well. Some 11 rooms that are well presented, flow easily from one to another. We went on a Sunday morning and almost had the museum to ourselves for the first 30 minutes. Allow an hour or two to get around the exhibits. Dont rush out at the...

Very informative, enjoyable to walk around and learn about the past. With the money - especially with combined ticket to see the archeological museum.

It is not that you come across an ancient and intact pharmacy of the 18th century. It is worth a visit if you like Byzantine art.

A modern structure, that reflects the idea of Byzantium. It is well designed to fit any period of the byzantine culture of the city and the region of Macedonia, including some wonderfull icons from Mount Athos (the Holly Mountain) and some masterpieces found around the region.
