You can climb up the acropolis here, but be prepared to see nothing in the way of ancient stones when you get to the top. The ruins of the ancient theatre may be open when you go, but as of now, they are off limits....

Amid the olive groves around Sparti is this place. Most of the time totally deserted. Great to stroll around the ruins. Enjoy the huge theatre and marvel at the view.

After stopping for a photo opportunity at the Leonadis Statue we followed the signs to Ancient Sparta, drove up the road & parked near the infants school. It was a very hot day & despite the scattering of shade you really needed a hat & water. The walk along the well formed pathway was a gentle rise passing several interesting...
