It is a beautiful monastery with many thing to see inside. with shops and even a small museum. Try to speak to the monks living there - 6 altogether - you will feel different More

Perched high on top of the mountain sits a group of monasteries from the 15th and 16th century. It's hard to believe they could build these amazing structures. Lovely atmosphere. Really interesting. The monastery is perched on one of the higher rocks and you can see where they used to bring monks up in a rope basket. Fabulous museum with ancient books and relics. More

The fourteenth century Monastery of St. Varlaam is a little more difficult to reach. From the parking lot you cross a wooden bridge to the rock on which the monastery sits.
