Out on a limb in a nice enough park, the Little Mermaid draws coach loads of tourists by the score. Strange as she is almost impossible to take a good photo of without a chimney or freight ship in the background. Nice enough statue but her new neighbour "Justicia" by a modern Danish sculptor is all the more interesting. Striking... more

I kept hearing from Danes that the Little Mermaid is not much to see. She is so small, they kept telling me. I am glad they told me this, because when I happened upon her, she was much larger than I expected! So expect her to be small. ALSO, GO AS EARLY IN THE MORNING AS YOU CAN. My guess... more

The Little Mermaid was actually larger than I expected and, considering she has been decapitated three times, bombed, had her arm chopped off, painted red and thrown into the sea on occasions, she looked in pretty good condition! Previous reviews are perfectly correct when they say she is small and that there is an unattractive industrial backdrop but....she is an... more

The statue itself isn't particularly special, but if it's a nice day you can make it part of a very nice walk along the esplanade with wonderful views of the harbor. If you do go to the area, be sure to also visit the Kastellet, an old fortification still used by the military. The public is allowed in during the... more

We saw her on a canal boat tour and did not make a special trip. I didn't think there was anything spectacular about The Little Mermaid so we did not get off the boat and walk over. more

I....I just don't get it. You read about this in every publication about Copenhagen. I took the DFDS Canal Tour (A good tour for the money) in order to see it. I was surprised by how tiny it was. It's just not a big deal, and when you compare it to all the wonderful churches and castles that are in... more

The extent that this is promoted and featured by the touristboard, on visitng the statue the underwhelming was overwhelming. Small, not especially great and the industrial backdrop left us wondering what all the fuss is about. You do feel almost obliged to take the 26 bus (make sure its the right 26 bus heading 'nord' else you go the wrong... more

The Little Mermaid statue is one of the stops on the hop on/hop off buses. It sits on a pedestal at the edge of the water. It takes a little hop over the rocks and water around it in order to stand next to it. It's interesting and worth a visit. more

We were in Copenhagen in the middle of June 2006. The weather was beautiful while we were there so the walk to the little mermaid was great! The walk itself was an experience because you are walking along a sea wall with beautiful views and through beautiful parks along the way. We passed Amlienborg Palace and watched the chainging of... more
