The Frilandsmuseet is placed outside Copenhagen - it's a place where Danes go to for picnic and walks with friends and children. The historic houses and surroundings are beautiful - and it's great fun to see the old houses - some times there are inhabitants in the houses. More

Definitely, something very typical in Scandinavia. What a wonderful idea to put a lot of traditional old buildings together, and make a nice museum to understand how they lived long time ago. More

If you like open-air museums, you will love this one. The museum is rather large and you can easily spend half a day or more here to experience how Danes lived in the past. It is also a good way to get a glimpse of the Danish countryside without venturing too far from the City. The museum can be combines... More

Great museum! But only go there if the wheather is acceptable. Bring lunch, and you can spend hours and hours in this historical place. If you don't enjoy history and culture, this is not the place for you. But if you do, you will have a good time seeing how people in Denmark lived many years ago! More

Take a trip outside Copenhagen to the open air museum in Lyngby "Frilandsmuseet" where you can see about 100 rural Scandinavian buildings - equipped with furniture, some with animals etc. The entrance is for free. Take a tour in one of the horse carriages so you can see more of the huge area, where the buildings are (25 DKK pp).... More

For a cultural day out in Copenhagen, you should not miss the Open Air museum! An amazing collection in beautiful settings of old Scandinavian buildings with all the inventory. Learn about the way they lived hundreds of years ago, by strolling through a forest setting. Bring a picnic & let the kids run around. Kids enjoy this as much as... More

A huge open air site containing many many dwellings from ages past. With farms and cottages to manor houses and shops, all as they would have been in the 19th and 20th centuries. With information on who would have lived in the properties and how many animals they would have housed (sometimes together!) it is a great idea. Made even... More
