The Frilandsmuseet is placed outside Copenhagen - it's a place where Danes go to for picnic and walks with friends and children. The historic houses and surroundings are beautiful - and it's great fun to see the old houses - some times there are inhabitants in the houses.

Great museum! But only go there if the wheather is acceptable. Bring lunch, and you can spend hours and hours in this historical place.
If you don't enjoy history and culture, this is not the place for you. But if you do, you will have a good time seeing how people in Denmark lived many years ago!

Take a trip outside Copenhagen to the open air museum in Lyngby "Frilandsmuseet" where you can see about 100 rural Scandinavian buildings - equipped with furniture, some with animals etc. The entrance is for free. Take a tour in one of the horse carriages so you can see more of the huge area, where the buildings are (25 DKK pp)....

A huge open air site containing many many dwellings from ages past. With farms and cottages to manor houses and shops, all as they would have been in the 19th and 20th centuries.
