The building itself is nice, large and inviting. They will reconstruct the garden for the better in 2013. A good variety of paintings, but the way they give additional options for music listening or information to the exhibition is interesting. You have to like paintings a bit and the modern Danish art show is a bit less organised, but the... More

Centrally located up from Norreport startion, the art gallery has tremendous collections of french, dutch and italian art spanning the last 500 years. Also a large collection of Danish and Nordic artists which were very interesting and also high quality. There's a nice cafe in the new wing at the back looking out over the park and also a large... It is close to the centre, and yet a bit off the tourist track in the sense that a busy road divides it from King's garden. The imposant neo-classic facade warrants that what you get here is serious art and lots of it (another potential impediment to a visit for those who have just visited nearby Rosenborg castle and are... This museum is one presenting the big collection of European art. Especially important is the Danish collection. The free admission makes the visit to Museum the temptation to any visitor. More

What a spectacular space! A wonderfully curated Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition. Friendly helpful staff. Guides in English and Danish. Great guide to permanent collection in English. Children friendly, super cafe. Well worth a visit. More

The museum is a triumph of both architecture and Art. The danish art exhibiton is stimulating and well considered - one really gets a feel for the history. The building is an interesting mix of modern and classical. Be warned. The restaurant is pricey - €13 for a sandwich is steep, even if it is very good. More

Unfortunately the pre-18th century collection which includes Reubens, Rembrant, Titian etc was closed - not reopening until November 2011. Some very good Matisse and an extensive Nordic/Danish collection. These however did not make up for the pieces that we were unable to see. Also, exterior gardens at the front of the building were very overgrown with weeds which detracted from... More

The setup was peculiar at time of the visit, as the pre-18th century European wing was closed (which represents a third of the exhibits). The French wing was quite nice (a huge number of Matisse) as well as the Danish one. However, the temporary exhibits were only so so. One of the very few free attractions in Copenhagen (at least... I had heard amazing things about this museum, but I only found it so-so. It is worth going to, but I not spending a lot of time in. I did like the café. It is located near Rosenborg Castle and Gardens (Kongens Have) and the Botanical Gardens, and it would make sense to visit them on the name day. More
