The museum is a triumph of both architecture and Art. The danish art exhibiton is stimulating and well considered - one really gets a feel for the history. The building is an interesting mix of modern and classical. Be warned. The restaurant is pricey - €13 for a sandwich is steep, even if it is very good. More

Unfortunately the pre-18th century collection which includes Reubens, Rembrant, Titian etc was closed - not reopening until November 2011. I had heard amazing things about this museum, but I only found it so-so. It is worth going to, but I not spending a lot of time in. I did like the café. It is located near Rosenborg Castle and Gardens (Kongens Have) and the Botanical Gardens, and it would make sense to visit them on the name day. More
