I was kinda scared when I went as I was all alone. I'm a small asian girl who doesn't fit it the place. However, I thought I might never go there if I missed the chance this time, so I went alone around noon!
It's an interesting place which no many places could be compared with. Loads of random things...

I live in the same neighbourhood as Christiania and used to enjoy regular visits to their cafes or just a stroll around the area. Unfortunately a lot of criminal elements have moved in and taken over in the past couple of years which has had a strong and unpleasant impact on the atmosphere. Gone is the chilled out Pusher street...

A city within a city, Christiania seems like just another dodgy neighbourhood/park from the outside, full of grafitti and dirty looking. However, upon entering the walls, the area looked more artistic and extremely as it is supposed to be, Hippy! While walking around, you see plenty of 20-30 year olds hanging around and many stalls doing BBQ food and souvenirs....

This is the place to go on a summer day if you're young and like to find yourself in a very relaxed atmosphere. There are plenty of nice restaurants, bars, benches, trails, and people. It's a good idea to take out some money beforehand, seeing as quite a few shops don't take credit cards.

Go and experience yourselves. Lot of stray dogs but dont worry they wont harm you. Weed weed weed every where, lots of people enjoying it, overall its a different world. No entry fee and tourists dont buy anything from there.

As my friend said "it os a lot safer than you would think". There is some really fun and different houses and is it quite beautiful to go there for a walk. Even my old conservative parents think it is fun to go for a walk there when they visit Copenhagen.

Gee, I didn't have a clue I was entering an actual micro-nation when I stepped into Christiania in the Christianhavn area of Copenhagen. My only awareness of this hippie-dippy commune was a snippet of Rick Steves's episode on Copenhagen. Sounded fascinating - a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood of 85 acres that was founded in 1971. There aren't any direction signs to...

Christiania is the place that I visit almost every time I happen to be in Copenhagen. I don't go there for excitement or drugs, mostly just for a walk or sometimes for a (extremely healthy) meal. My perception of Christiania has changed during the years- the first time I was there I was 19 and the place was like a...
