In a word...boring. The saddest excuse for a museum I have ever seen. Save your money for the entrance fee and simply walk around outside the museum. I loved visiting this place. The Viking ships that were made here are amazing and the displays were fantastic too. The museum across the bridge from the working Viking ship museum was outstanding as well. I recommend taking a voyage in the Viking Ship. Lovely location and offers activities for kids. Not overwhelming and easy to get round. Nice restaurant just outside the museum. More

You really see the old viking ships. They are reconstructed, but you can easily get the feeling of how they were originally. Outside, you can see a lot of replicas, and you can even sail them!! (quite expensive, tough) More

We travelled there by train from Copenhagen and then caught the local bus. There is a large display hall with Viking ships and much information about the history of various voyages. You can pay for a sail in a longboat on the nearby fiord. This was a great experience. More
