I've read in my guide that the palace is so large that we tried not to spend too much time looking at anything at the beginning, and then all of the sudden it was the end of our sightseeing route! I wouldn't say it a particularly large palace, nor it is something really outstanding. I've seen bigger and more beautifully...

It was fun to see the changing guards ceremony and then we took the tour around the inside of the castle- the guide was great, really interesting!

I was unable to go in, but what was accessible was pretty neat. There is still a Royal Guard and while not as austere as the Brits, still pretty impressive.

We arrived in the area of the palace from the Hop On-Hop Off boat trip (Sightseeing Stockholm, great value at 100 SEK for the day) and just chanced upon the changing of the guards. As a free spectacle you can't beat it, horses, music, marching, shining brass, polished boots and smart blue uniforms. You can check out the times, regiments...

OK, it does not look like a proper castle on the uoutside. But the inseid is very impressing. And the fact that you actually might see the swedish king on his way to and from work, is kind of fun.
The Royal family does not live here anymore. But the have their officese here. So it is a little bit...

I queued up for over an hour to get in. Each room in the palace is illuminated by only one light on Culture Night so you're encouraged to explore with a torch (flashlight). It's sort...

It was ok as palaces went, very impressive and beautiful chandeliers but you had to walk through and then back on yourself which was difficult if the flow was against you, I didn't feel anywhere near as taken with it as I was with Drottningholm.

Be sure to arrive atleast 15min early as the standing room around the changing of the guards fills up fast. The ceremony itself lasts around 35-40min and is filled with music from the traveling band. We were also lucky to arrive on the National Folk Dancing day, which allowed us to see people in traditional outfits dancing traditional dances as...
