I visited Drottningholm on a weekday in early May, at which time, they do not provide tours in English. It's pretty much pointless to go into the house without the tour, because just wandering around the rooms that are open doesn't tell you much. I had the Stockholm Card, so I didn't pay extra to visit the palace; but I...

Great boat road to reach the Drottningholm Palace. it takes an hour and leaves from near the town hall in Stockholm. The Palace has elegance and much of interest. The lakeside situation and the palace gardens add extra beauty. Do visit the Chinese pavilion. an early and smaller version of Brighton Pavilion, which was the royal family's escape from state...

Beautiful summer palace and original court theatre from 1760 - try to catch an opera performance (May-August) if you can.

I went to Stockholm 4 times and I would say that this place is the most beautiful one in Stockholm. The garden is amazing and the castle is wonderful. I recommend to get the boat in front of the City Hall,

We enjoyed the boat trip to reach the palace. The highlight of Drottningholm was the charming tour of the court theatre. This was far more entertaining than wandering through the vast rooms of the palace without any information in English to explain what we were seeing.

Its a very good choice for half day trip from Stockholm. Make sure that you go to Drootingholm with steam boat , which starts just under the city hall. The jurney to Drottingholm takes about an hour. Drottingholm palace is very big, courtyard is very beutiful , whit fountains and green paths, leading all the way to Chinese Pavilion.

I was frankly a little disappointed with this palace. Although it was lovely and I would happily live there, it doesn't compare to the other great palaces/castles of Europe. The gardens are nice and it is worth a trip to see, especially by boat.

We were lucky the sun shone, we were about an hour ahead of a huge coach and we were very relaxed. We walked through the gardens to the CHinese summer house - stunning, had a coffee in the garden by the chinese house then strolled back up and went round the palace, beautiful. V sorry that the chapel was closed....
