When in the neighboorhood you must go to Mariefred to visit the Mariefred Castle.
You will see a castle built in the 1500's, re-built, expanded and restored over the centuries, preserved in very good condition presenting a Swedish historic master piece. Take a stroll in the park surrounded by water and enjoy the nice location.

As part of the Globus tour I did of Scandanavia, we got to do a tour of Gripsholm Castle. The present day castle was built by King Gustav Vasa as a defense against foreign and domestic enemies.
