The museum is housed in the oldest stone building in Helsinki and is conveniently located just off Senate Square, so it's worth a visit just to see the exterior. There's an interesting collection of artifacts telling about the history of Helsinki. It is somehow unbelievable that this building was someone's summer residence outside Helsinki. Take a look and understand.

Don't waste your time going there. As a native Finn I don't recommend this museum to anyone, Ateneum or Kiasma will offer you much more.

This museum was my favorite in Helsinki.

This musem was one of the gems of Helsinki. It is in the original Stockman department store and had many of the original store touches. It covers all aspects of the history, politics, food, culture of Helsinki and Finland in a very informative way. All information is in Finnish, Swedish and English.
