This is where it all happens. Always full of teenagers and drunks, so there is never a dull moment here. But its nice and warm in the winter and there is usually an employee close by to answer questions.

It is a nice building looking from outside but i go there often for business and inside is very outdated and tourism information is quite limited as in many places in helsinki.
quite disapointing compared to other European stations. Trains are new and on time. That counts too. And again Building from outside looks impressive.

Although the station offers numerous coffee shops, news kiosks, shops etc. for a traveller, the information board leaves lot to be desired. It is positioned high up, people with poor eyesight cannot see it properly. The station is often filled with plastic buckets on the floors, for water leakage. General condition is poor.

I go through the Railway Station nearly on every-day-basis, and sometimes, I have spent hours there waiting for someone or sipping coffee at one of the cafes. Go and take a look. Nice architectural element in Helsinki, always a lot of people around, coming and going to trains or the underground subway.

I should recommend a better picture of this masterpiece. At the At other side of the facade there are 18 tracks, mostly serving commuter traffic in and out of Helsinki. In rush hours there is a train arriving and leaving almost every minute. This is a business where you can keep prices low and still make profit.

The central railwaystation is big for being in Helsinki. Theres nothing remarkable to say about it really. But its arcitechture might interest you.

The design of the railway station is very impressive from the outside, inside it's just a railway station like any other.

Quite clearly a station from the days when they were designed to impress. Many interesting architectural features. Take the tunnels under the city to the shopping malls and department stores to appreciate the thought that has gone into planning for long cold winters in this part of the world!
