This is an excellent museum about whales, the history of whaling and the environmental impacts that Man has had on these majestic animals around Iceland. The 1,200ISK entrance fee was well worth it for all of the well-displayed exhibits, reconstructed whale skeletons on display, history, maps and videos playing. The building itself is a restored slaughterhouse (for sheep) and looks... More

A great place to visit. After doing a whale tour this is a very interesting and informative museum that encompasses everything you could wish to know about whales. More

We drove to Husavik from Akureyri and got there shortly before 10, thus barely missing the 10 o’clock departure for whale watching. We booked the 12 o’clock departure and decided to drop into the whale museum to while away the time. But we were quickly caught up in this lovely museum and were almost sorry to leave 2 hours later.... More

We visited the museum mainly because it started raining but it's a very interesting museum located in the former slaughterhouse of Husavik. There is a special exhibition for children but basically this museum caters for adults. They have a lot of whale skeletons and a special section on orkas (killer whales), for which Husavik is known. They also don't avoid... More

My kids were really excited about visiting the whale museum, my 8 year old had more patience and interest than my 4 year old but that is only to be expected. It was really interesting to see all the whale skeletons they have and good to know that not a single animal was killed to acquire those. I like how... More

The only center dedicated to the study and appreciation of whales. Loads of information about many different species of whales in Icelandic waters, skeletons and skulls of whales, and the history of whaling in the area. A heartfelt exhibition which's educational and arty. More
