This is actually a complex of three museums spread out in town. You can visit them all with the same ticket. We only had time to see two of them though. We went to see Antoni Tapiés's post-mortem exhibition at Kjarvalsstadir. Amazing work and correct display, lots of space to enjoy the big formats. The work by local artist Kjarval... More

Do take the trouble to spend a few hours here, the Icelandic people are deeply artistic and some of the exhibitions really captured their love of art in all its forms. More

this museum is very interesting. It displays modern art in a way that makes it easy on the eye and easy to access. It also has a really good restaurant - well worth eating at as many locals seem to do. More

Worth it for the Kjarval exhibition alone, what a fantastic talent! The rest of the exhibition at the main gallery was a little too modern and avant garde for my taste but the building and the staff were perfect for their function More

The Reykjavik Art Museum is actually three museums in various locations on Reykjavik. We visted the Hafnarhus (which had two rather odd shows and seeminlgly no permanent works to see) and then the Asmundarsafn museum (which was built by and now houses works by the Icelandic sculptor Asmundur Sveinsson). This museum was captivating... and introduced us to a number of... More
