We were recommended to visit Reykjavik City Museum at the hotel as far as we’d like to learn more about Iceland . The museum is really good, good guidance. Don’t miss! The place is suitable for both adults and children. More

What is generally called 'Reykjavik City Museum' is actually two museums. One is called Arbaejarsafn and is an open air museum located in an old suburb of Reykjavik (easily accessible by bus). It... We managed to make it here on one of the few days a week that this little museum is open during the winter. We were the only people on the tour, which was a pity because it was very interesting. The tour guide said that they get very few visitors in contrast to other tourist spots in the city -... More

How on earth did they excavate this wonderful little museum from just under the pavement? This gem of a museum depicts an Icelandic house from 871±2 AD, completely in situ. It's essentially the excavation of the floor of an 1100 year old house - this is not as dry or boring as it sounds. It's really easy to picture life... More

The national Museum is located in an interesting building with very well laid out exhibits. The right amount of culture, art and history are presented in the exhibits with out being tiresome. You come away with a bit more knowledge of Iceland through the ages More

This exhibit was free with our Welcome card. It was cool and dark to display the ruins of the oldest settlement found, we liked seeing the artifacts and going around to hear all the stations. Nice souvenirs too. More
