Kaffibarinn was a pleasant enough drinking hole where the majority of drinkers are 21 to 35 locals. However, being an early 40 something I can't say that I felt out of place or that I was made to feel unwelcome in anyway! The bar consisted of 3 areas front room, back room and upstairs and was larger than outside appearances suggested. We were there... More

We thought we'd come here for a couple of drinks on a Saturday night. We befriended a couple of Americans and right away we could tell that we were total 'outsiders'. It was fun people watching the locals, but we were turned away or ignored whenever we tried to strike a conversation with any of them. By the time 3am... More

I went here with some local friends around 2am. There was a crowd pushing to get in at the door which was a bit much. The inside was no different, very crowded with rough pushing crowds. The tight places are a trait of Reykjavik nightlife that I found jarring. More

This place actually made me feel weird and uncomfortable which was mainly due to the waitress. In her special Icelandic way of hospitality she simply pointed at the bottles behind her when we asked for a cocktail menu, and didn't make any other efforts in accommodating us or recommending a specialty drink. The locals made themselves at home in this... More

This is a good place to spend the night if you're interested in a more trendy / indie / alternative venue. Good choice of drinks, normal prices. Recommended. More

People seem to love this place...but I am convinced people like it because they think they have to like it. Also, I think it is because they were so sloppy drunk they don't remember that they actually didn't like it. Maybe I am getting too old for this...but the music is horrible disco trash, the drinks are overpriced, you typically... More

My husband and I visited this bar due to the fact that it is or was part owned by Damon Albarn from the band Blur? my husband is a total indie kid. We visited it on a cold, wet and windy night. We found a sofa to snugle up on and were quite comfy people watching for a few hours,... More

If you want to go out in Reykjavik - this is where everyone is. The people are entertaining to watch and the decor is pretty as well. It was crowded, but if you don't mind standing against a wall then this is for you. The DJ was good and when we left around 2am it was still going strong. More

We loved this place, it's got to be one of the coolest bars in the world, nice atmosphere, good drinks and not too expensive given you are in one of the most famous bars in Iceland. Don't bother getting too dressed up, there aren't any party dresses on display here, just people rocking their own styles and being too cool... More

This bar rumouredly part owned by Damon Albarn of ex-Blur fame, is legendary. It features heavily in the film 101 Reyjkavik and really captures the quirky nature of Iceland. It's a great place to people watch, have a pint and listen to some cracking DJs. The sound system is of a high quality and the bar has a laid back... More
