It's a long way to Kykkos however you approach it i suspect. As we were travelling from Paralimni we couldn't have got much further away but it has to be said the journey was worth it. The contrast between the coastal strip and the Troodos mountains is extreme and probably more what one would expect of an island in the... More

We visited Kykkos on a recent holiday in Cyprus (our first). It was a long day out taking in much of the Troodos area. Because of the very wet winter Cyprus has just had, everything was so green and the wild flowers were lovely. But the highlight was Kykkos. It's spectacular - if you like icons and frescos. Entry is... More

Interesting to visit for its place in the history of modern Cyprus, although the buildings are not particularly old. Archbishop Makarios was a novice monk here. There are some good modern frescoes and mosaics telling the story of the monastery and its great treasure of the icon given to its founder by the Byzantine emperor, as well as Bible stories,... More

Lost in the mountains, this remote place seems to be like a flawless jewel. Everything is absolutely a wonder, the architecture, the paintings, the church (inside), and much more. Don't miss this place, it really worth the trip. More

A place where if you’re opening your heart and listen closely you can hear God speaking to you, telling you to be a better man, you can hear the devout monks prayers and it’s impossible not to feel the unique sensation of connection with Divinity. Such wonderful place is Kykkos Monastery in Cyprus and it’s a must see for all... More

This monastery never ceases to amaze me with its amazing art work on all the walls of the courtyard, lots of areas are open to walk around and the church is full of gold and icons, well worth a look at and seeing the richness of the building. More

What a stunning monastery this is. If you can only visit one monastery on your stay in Cyprus it has to be this one. Sadly, you can't take pictures but my mind is still replaying this beautiful church inside the monastery over and over again. It takes your breath away !! The Glory of God is truly displayed in these... More

a truly world class monument. U must definitely give a visit. Full of history especially for the orthodox but in general for Christians. One of the oldest christian monasteries in the world, almost 1000 years old. An astonishing museum to visit and a trully unique location with a great view. More

It's worth going up into the mountains and visit this monastery. It's very unique and beautiful. Lots of stunning icons. They also have a few stores up there for the tourists which are very interesting. We took a bus tour from Paphos for a total of 19 Euros. It was an all day tour visiting this monastery and another one,... More
