We took the bus from Nice to Monaco for about €1 for a day long side trip. The Palais de Prince is well worth the visit. We were there on a Sunday and there were perhaps a dozen other tourists, it was as if we had the place to ourselves, quite a contrast to palaces like Versailles and Schoenbrunn and... More

To visit the Prince’s Palace, you can take the bus directly to Monaco-Ville -- the old fortified city on the Rock. The Prince’s Palace is located atop the Rock in a gorgeous square. The guards standing at the front and the many canons encircling it make it appear like a stage set. I guess it is like a mini Versailles.... More

Monaco is a fantastic place but very very expensive. You can either wander the narrow side streets and make your way up to the prince's palace up a multitude of stairs, slopes and steps or take the tourist train, that runs from outside of the main museum of Oceanography. This is an electric train that pulls about 15-20 carriages along... More

Gives a little history into the Royal Family. They actually use it as the residence. We even saw Prince Albert as he left in his Limo.

Wandering in from the many little streets and shops we came across the main palace, first impressions weren't very good. For a start it was seriously crowded with tourists desperate to see the changing of the guard, which took place at around 11.55 am, but as always being with certain nationalities including Eastern Europeans who shoved, jostled, and shouted before pushing... One of the main things you should visit in Monaco You can’t enter the palace but you should see it and see the guards. The surrounding area is full of small shops and restaurants If you stay in the center of Monte Carlo go to the palace and top of the mountain by using the stairs in the mountain where... More

We visited several palaces in France (the most interesting was the Palais de Papes in Avignon). This one was really a waste of time. The self-guided audio tour was the most expensive of the trip, but unfortunately also the shortest and most boring. The commentary on the audio tour was trying way too hard to make it interesting through superlatives... More

Probably worth a quick visit (30 mins or so will suffice) but you'll visit plenty of more interesting and more beautiful palaces around the world. The English audiotour didn't do it for me (I found it ponderous and dull). Entry fee of 8 Euros (April 2012) isn't bad and gets you in to the small museum next door as well.

I spent some days in Monaco a few weeks ago, for the first time. I must say that I didn't like the first impression, too many buildings, luxury cars and hotels in such a tiny space. On the day after, I went to the rock where the Prince's Palace is located. What a change! Spend some time in the narrow... More

The palace is very interesting to see, with nicely decorated rooms, paintings, ... The audioguide is well done - which is not always the case for visits like this - and if you choose the French version you will even have Albert himself speaking to you. The information given on the audioguide is short but informative. We personally especially liked... More
