It's average town center...nothing great about it. You would go to this anyway as most of the attractions are near by.

I visited the Hauptplatz with family on a Thursday in September. From our hotel near the train station it was easy to catch a tram right into the Hauptplatz itself. A big central square in the XVIII-XIX century style. Most probably it would have been much nicer if vehicles like cars or trams wouldn't have passed through it. You can take a walk down to Danube river and enjoy the view of the nearby hills. Or enjoy a walk through the nice streets around the square.
