The Alpenzoo is a must if you're travelling in Innsbruck. First of all, it is built into the side of a mountain. You ride up in a funicular (which is rather neat), and there's a terrific view of the town from all parts of the zoo. We visited the Zoo in late October 2007. On the day we went there was only a couple of other people visiting. The Zoo has Alpine animals & this was really interesting to us (being Aussie's we don't see those types of animals). A nice place to visit if you want a break from Innsbruck during a weeks stay. There is a nice collection of animals, but nothing particularly exotic. Beware, the site is on a very steep hillside.
