THE big church to see in Vienna, though I prefer the more Baroque KarlKirsche nears Karlsplatz. But if you're a Gothic fan, this one's for you... more

The Stephansdom is absolutly amazing - big enough to impress at first sight, greatly decorated facades and an awesome puzzle roof. Inside, the cathedral is large, sober and attractive to sight, but not so appealing as the Peterkirche interior 'thou. We only visit the ground floor interior, a free entrance. It's possible to climb the tower to have a great... more

Visiting this cathedral is a must when you are in Vienna. Walking down the dtreet and coming around the corner to see the magnificent tiled roof is really breath-taking. The tour of the interior is nice, but not amazing. However, pay the small fee to go up to the top-- the view is amazing and the breeze is wonderful. more

If you come to Vienna, you *will* visit Stephansdom. That is a fact. However, I've found that the time of day you come can greatly influence your experience. Unfortunately, I haven't figured that timing out yet so I can't advise you. Sometimes when we come, you are permitted to enter only the rear of the church. This is normally during... more

I understand the beauty, history that can be found in cathedrals throughout Europe, but my sis and I weren't impressed. First of all note the church opens at 6 am for mass but not til 10 am for tours. We paid to climb the tower and saw spectacular views of the city, but for the price we paid, it wasn't... more

We saw the cathedral both during the night and during the day. When we first came up from the metro station I got scared by the dim light and imposing building. The skulls on the facade made it even more creepier. Inside-- breath taking! During the day it looks "normal" , yet stunning in the light. Walk around it and... more

We found this Cathedral breathtaking. The expanse and intricacy of the work done on the church is difficult to fully comprehend and certainly worth seeing. It is easy to understand why it is such an icon of Austria. We didn't go to the catacombs and we are sorry we missed it. This would be a must do on our next... more

Stephansdom is kind of a "must do" in Vienna - is it located downtown and is really a beautiful Cathedral. It's easy to get there on the mass transit system - there's a stop right there and once you come up the stairs, you're literally at the entrance to Stephansdom. The greatest thing about Stephansdom is the elevator that you... more

Thsi cathedral is truly gigantic and is located on its own square. The inside is done in a beautiful baroque style with many chapels and monuments to saints. The high ceilings are huge alter show just how magnificant this palce is. The only thing I didn;t like was that only the left most part of the church was open to... more

Stephansdom is a must see in Vienna. It has excellent views from the tower and the crypt tour should not be missed. Entry to Stephansdom is free, but the crypt and tower require additional payment. This is perhaps the most interesting crypt I have seen in a cathedral anywhere, and includes partial burial of Austrian royalty and mass graves of... more
