Today the palace houses three museums which afford historically authentic insights into the traditions and everyday life of the imperial court: The Imperial Apartments with their original furnishings and decoration, the Sisi Museum with its sensitive staging of the empress' life, and the Imperial Silver Collection which contains a comprehensive range of tableware and other utensils used at the imperial court. « less

Having just spend a wonderful 3 nights in Vienna my wife and Ican thoroughly recommend a stay. However, the Imperial Palace was a huge disappointment - entirely due to the organisation, rather lack of it. Although it was a weekend when we visited, so presumably busier, there was no attempt by the organisers to form a queuing system and a... more

We were on a tour so had a guided tour of the palace grounds without visiting any of the museums. This is a gigantic place with a number of stately squares and beautiful grounds with much about Austrian history. The buildings are immense and opulent. You could probably just walk through this place, but it is better to either have... more

This was great. Amazing to look around and picture the square being filled with citizens as Hitler gave his speech. Very beautiful. Great central location and doesn't take long to see. more

We could not find the main entrance so we ended entering thru some entrance probably meant for the workers there. Hint: Turn left when you get off the tram and go thru the courtyard instead of the garden! There is a door from the garden to the courtyard but if you are unlucky like us, it will be locked! Unfortunately,... more

The Imperial Palace is huge and has a great diversity in architecture as it has been constructed over generations. You will no doubt see it while in Vienna. Whether it is worth it to see it from the inside or not, is debatable. First, I'm talking specifically about the Imperial Apartments and the Sisi Museum, not the dozens of other... more

While the Hofburg Palace includes many different areas to visit - including the apartments, the Silver Museum, and the Spanish Riding School - the only place I took the time to see was the National Archives/Reading Room, and it is beautiful! I'm sure the rest of the palace is gorgeous, too, but with limited time I had to decide what... more

The Imperial Place is not just a palace but a big complex which houses a lot of different attractions. I started my visit with the key attraction of any palace: The Imperial's apartment. Great furniture and interesting audioguide illustrating every furniture of apartment's furniture. Then there is the Sisi Museum and the museum of silverware, which are found in the... more

Hofburg Palace is located in the heart of the city of Vienna. For over 6 centuries it was the imperial home of the Habsburg royal family. The building architectural styles range from Gothic to late 19th century historicism and stretch over quite a few city blocks and parks. This sprawling complex of buildings is open till late at night and... more

This was the main palace of the rulers of Vienna for centuries. It cannot be fully described because of its many components. There is the park filled with beautiful statues of royalty and Mozart. In the Neue Burg there is the Ephesus Museum of Greek and ancient artifacts, and the Hofbibliothek, or library. In the old palace there is the... more

The first thing you see in front are ruins dating back to the Roman period. The Hofburg is a major site and will take hours to see so plan accordingly. If you are staying anywhere near the ring, there is no need to plan this with the Spanish Riding School. Admission is expensive but worth the cost. The first exhibit... more
