We were surprised at how "interactive" it was. Meaning, there were many toys to play with... For example, there were 50 or so cones with sound effects on the wall. You placed your ear and listened to tearing paper, or city noise, or farting, etc. There were numerous toys which allowed you to create or experience sound waves. Much more... More

Haus der Musik is a must-see in central Vienna. One floor enchants and delights you with the lives of great Austrian musicians from Haydn and Mozart to Strauss and Schonberg, with a free audio guide and many exhibits. Who modernized opera as we know it today? Who was so poor he owned no piano? You'll find out here. You can... More

One of the best places to visit for learning about music and Vienna composers. Unusual and extremely informative. Better than the visit to the different composer houses. You can sit down for a 50 min recorded concert. Highly recommended for a special experience in high tech and old music.

A good attempt to interest those into music and those into the history of composers. Better for its insights into what Vienna was like in the period than either of the above. Modern technology left me unimpressed with a couple of exceptions.

Since this museum is open late, we went on a Tuesday night--it was half price after 5, making a great deal even better! This place was so much fun. It was interesting, It was informative. It was interactive. We were there for over 2 hours and probably could have stayed longer. Definitely fit it in to your plans.

Visited here with my husband in January 2012. The museum is open late, until 8 or 9pm. We went after dinner and had the museum virtually to ourselves. I think we saw maybe 10 other people during our almost 1.5-2hr visit. The exhibits are interesting and engaging. You start learning out Vienna's classical music history and seeing some interesting pieces... More

The most fun I had in Vienna was here. The museum offers fun and informative exhibits for musicians and non-musicians alike. The first floor you visit is dedicated to the Vienna Philharmonic, the second to the process of creating music (from basic sound to difficult harmony and everything in-between), and the third floor is dedicated to the musicians who created... Walkin along the Kartner Strasse, you'll see the sign of this attraction.. First 3 floors are full of instructive infrmation on the functions of the ear ! You'll be amazed by the room demonstarting the sounds that a fetus hears on her mommy's tummy:) And the four floor hosts a sage where you 'll be let to direct the Symphony... More

A great museum that tells a tale of music through the centuries. It has a nice section on the Wiener Philharmonic, and a good place for kids to try out stuff. Highly recommended.

We have a great time in this museum! It was fun to explore and learn things about sound and also re-discover classic music. You can buy a combo ticket with Mozart house for 17 euros and save some money! Dont miss it and have fun!
