Instead of reconstructing Freud's office and the famous couch room, this museum is a rather unedited exhibition of documents and stuff from Freud's apartment collected and mounted on the walls of the different rooms without any relation to where they used to be when he actually lived there. Visitors get a rather weird old binder with description of various artifacts... More

We really enjoyed visiting Sigmund Freud's Vienna Apartment. Apparently, he also had one in London. We saw his waiting room and his collection of artifacts. There were also several signed documents and books. His birth certificate was particularly interesting.

For 5 Euros, you get to walk around one floor of Freud's house with none of the rooms in their original states (except one tiny vestibule.) If you're interested in Psychoanalysis then of course you have to go but make sure you go to London's Freud museum, which is so much better. Also in Vienna, the Freud gift shop has... More

This looked promising but turned out to be very scantily furnished with anything of real interest. The walls were covered in photocopied photographs and we didn't see or learn anything we didn't know already. A bit complacent really.

Since I am professor of psychology and my wife is a psychiatrist, you can imagine our anticipation of our visit to Freud's house. We were greatly disappointed with what we found. In lieu of furnishings and accoutrements of Freud's practice, only photographs on the walls gave any sense of the birthplace of psychoanalysis. The only original items were some of... More

Due to our professional affinity, we were really looking forward to see Freud's house/office in Vienna. It's rather smaller than we expected but nicely arranged. Entrance hall and waiting room remain as it was used by Freud himself so it's very exciting even just to stand there. The remaining two rooms were covered with pictures of Freud's family members, friends... More

Museum is not well organized, you cannot track the signs (it's so confusing; they could do it much better!!). We entered museum and started our tour, after 20 minutes man told us he is gonna close the museum so we needed to leave museum (we were on the beggining of our tour). We payed for a ticket and were knocked... More

If you are interested in psychology and you are acquainted with his works, then you should come visit this museum. Is in a residential area (as expected - this was his old house) and little bit out of the way but nonetheless easy to find. The museum displays pictures and shows the general arrangement of his office space. I visited... More

Well organised museum with lots of Freud's personal belongings, manuscripts, books, etc. You can see famous coach there as well. Many other books on psychology by other authors including Freud's daughter.

Sigmund Freud’s museum enables to get a glimpse into his biography. It’s a most exciting chance to see with your own eyes the apartment and office where he created his major papers. Obviously ascetic life style of a person whose priority was his work and science. I was engrossed by his library; it seems to me in this case books... More
