We were there in March and we were the only ones on the ferris wheel, except for a couple having dinner. It was great with a clear view of the city. The car was clean and bright. Next time, we will do it again and have dinner on the ride! Of course, we are history nuts, so take it for... more

I was the youngest in a group of grown ups and it was very fun for all of us. First of all it is free admission! You pay only for the rides that you want to go on. The obvious landmark is the ferris wheel. It is quite histroric along with the whole complex. I understand that it is the... more

Went with our 11 and 9 year old children (during the day). Based on previous reviews, we expected a seedy rundown faded amusement park filled with suspicious characters. Instead, there has clearly been a lot of effort pumped in to the Prater and it has been partly "Disneyfied" -- it looks like it was recently cleaned up, there were lots... more

The Prater is basically a giant amusement park in Vienna, Austria. When you walk in, you cannot even begin to grasp just how big it actually is. Their biggest attraction is this huge ferris wheel. Taking a ride on the ferris wheel is completely worth it, because you get to enjoy the view. Other than the ferris wheel, the park... more

I remember going on the Riesenrad in 1964 as a boy. I have to say that I was disappointed when I returned 44 years later. The wheel is not as high as I remembered it and the cabin interiors are covered in graffiti. It really does need investment and the Vienna authorities should do all they can to preserve this... more

Went to this on our first evening in Vienna, in the main to ride on the giant ferris wheel, a bit like the London Eye, in order to get a view of Vienna at night time. Well the ride is dissapointing on two fronts, too short and not much to see at night. The park itself has a long history,... more

The Prater is a huge amusement park with many enjoyable rides and attractions. It is definitely worth the trip. The Giant Ferris Wheel at the Prater, however, is a huge disappointment. First of all, it is highly over-priced at 9 euros. You only get 50 cents discount with the Vienna Card. And don't forget the coupon book that comes with... more

I just didn't think it lived up to the reputation. The ride is expensive, the amusment park a bit seedy, the setting is very "touristy"- especially having to exit through a gift shop and the view not especially good. Vienna is a lovely city- the best view is on foot! more

Last July, while on a Danube Cruise, my wife and I were able to make a brief visit to Vienna. Full of Strauss's music, 'Sachertort' and Viennese coffee, I hopped off the subway at the 'Prater' stop for a quick tour of the park. I've been retired for several years, but still work at a theme park just north of... more

I'm a middle aged woman and I really enjoyed the entire experience at the Prater. During the day the Riesenrad provided a great view of the entire city of Vienna--and it was even cloudy! I was there on Aug. 29. I took advantage of some of the thrill rides unavailable at our local Six Flags. The best was one in... more
