With nice spring weather, this is perfect area to hang around. Great view and walks around buildings and plenty of people scattered around the parks in this area on beautiful sunny day. Just great area to chill out!

To call this a city hall is a gross understatement. I have seen city halls all over and only the FLW designed Marin County building is in the same ballpark. This is a truly stunning building from the mid 1800's and it has seasonal attractions throughout the year.
In winter, there is an ice-skating rink in the square and lots of places selling food around. VEry nice and beautiful!
During the summer, the grounds are a great place to sit and enjoy a coffee in the Vienna sun, and in the evenings, why not participate in the film fest? In winter, there's the Christmas market and skating!

Add to that great beer, wine and desserts and it...

Best to be seen around Christmas, The Town Hall Square is impressively decorated. The Christmas fare is nice and cozy, baked potatoes with garlic sauces, hot cups of wine with cinnamon tells about the Austrian way of celebrating the Holy Day of Christmas. The Rathausplatz, the stretch of pavement between the Rathaus and the Burgtheater is one of the most well-used pieces of real estate in the city of Vienna. Rarely will you find it empty of festivities.

IN front of the town hall are 5 outdoor skating rinks all connected via skating paths which stretch around the park. A great idea and good way to spend a couple of hours. The price is very reasonable (around 5 euros inc skate hire).
There are a number of stalls where you can get food or warm punch. I recommend...
