Worth a stop to try some cake or dessert. I enjoyed the truffle cake and my wife had the apple strudel. Glad we went.

This coffehouse, located on the Kohlmarkt in Vienna, was once the purveyor of sweets for the royal house of Austria. And it is among the most famous of the 'sweet bakeries' in that city. We imagined lingering for hours, as history suggests happened in the coffee-house hey-day, over a cup of coffee. The place on our visit was much too...

The cake arrangement in the window of Demels is beautiful and that image continues inside. Even in January the cafe was too busy to be bothered wating for a seat so we just bought two cakes to have back at the hotel. I think it depends on what you order as to what is really good. Demel Cafe might be the most famous cafe in the world and there are reasons for this but if you live in Vienna, you only go there once in a blue moon. Actually the most ridiculous thing...

I was enchanted as I walked in the door, with the historic interior and the exquisite food on offer, but was immediately put off by the first member of staff. On asking to book a table in the non-smoking area for later in the day, she told me I should just come back then as there would be lots of...
