This beautiful church is right in the historic center and as remarkable as it is from the outside in the thick of things, it's serene and lovely indoors.

This church is on a side road visible from the Graben between the St Stephens dome and the road where Demel is... if you pass by too fast you'll miss it. However if you see the picture of the external structure on tripadvisor you will recognise it as you go by. Once in you will be satisfied with the 1... More

This church is very special to me because it is so beautiful and peaceful. It was Vienna's first Christian church and was built at the time when Vienna was still a Roman camp under the name of Vindobona. The orginal Roman church was later replaced by a three naved Romanesque church which changed again at the beginning of the 18th... More

Peterskirche is in the Baroque style so if you think you've seen it all at gothic Stephansdom, come here anyway as it is quite different. A lot smaller of course and a completely different feel. We were lucky enough to see a violinist playing here one evening. And they do allow photos with no flash.

We happened upon a free concert in this church - what a wonderful surprise. The acoustics in this place are out of this world. The church itself is very beautiful but you must plan your visit around a concert. Not to be missed!

Stumbled in here by accident and probably the most beautiful, small church I have ever seen. And there was an organ recital on when I went in. If you do nothing else in Vienna, see this delightful place.

example of baroque architecture and ornamentation. Totally over the top. We had read that it was the most ornate church in Vienna. And that is saying something. We did get to enjoy a free organ recital there on Sunday evening. There appears to be a Sunday evening free music series.

The Church of St. Peter is a Baroque church built between 1701 and 1733. The Emperor Leopold I wanted the old church that burned down in 1661 to be rebuilt after Vienna suffered the plague in 1679-1680. The new church was constructed by Gabriele Montani and Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. The new church was the first building in Vienna to... More
