Incredible view from the top. Absolutely worth the trip. Norways most silent elevatorstaff mind you. The driver didn't say one word all the way up to the top and the trip costs NOK 120,- per person.

A most do if you are a bit lazy you can take the elevator to the top of the mountain and be in real nature in short time, the elevator trip is a thrill to. Quite expencive and I cant say anything about the restaurant food, but the cafe is ok, but expensive, anyway worth it for the magnificent wieuw...

I have been visiting Tromso for over ten years and regularly take the cable car trip up the mountain but it is only worth doing on a clear day. If there is rain or snow in the air don’t waste your time/money as the chances are you will see nothing or at best just get a misty view of Tromso....

we got the snow, all around us. the view was just fantastic. worth the cost and the efforts we took to reach there.
Visited early March. Not snowing in Tromso but was snowing lightly and very windy at the top of the cable car. Recommend that check the weather forecast and impact at higher altitudes. As long as have some clear skies, you can still get a good view.
Getting there - caught bus 26 (it loops back to the city). So to...

The cable car is reachable by the number 26 bus. Turn right out of the bus and it's about 20 yards on the left. There are a lot of steps, not suitable for anyone disabled or with walking difficulties. Once up there, there is a viewing platform and a cafe. But the cafe only served waffles and muffins, along with...

The views from the top are amazing, and overall it is well worth the price. But choose the day carefully - there's no point going up there if it is snowing - the whole point is to see the panorama. In the winter when I visited, it was very windy & cold at the top. So you should dress for...

The trip up the mountain is wothwhile and the views from the top and the chance to get some exercise are great but the men running the car are the only rude people we met in 10 days in the Country, which takes the edge off the trip a bit.
There seems to be no "deal" between the bus company...

We visited Tromso as part of an Arctic Highlight trip with Hurtigruten between 17th to 22nd February 2012. On the 21st we caught the 26 bus to the cable car station. Unfortunately it was snow heavy most of the day, so we did not use the cable car that day. We walked back via the bridge into the center.
As...

We were very fortunate that it was a clear day when we were there. However, please be prepared to wear thicker clothing and proper shoe as it can be cold while waiting to board the cable car. The staff manning the ticket counter is not friendly. Great view from the top. During a clear day and if not snowing you...
