This is a country with a huge maritime tradition. Therefore, its not surprising that this museum has one of the best maritime displays in the world (I have visited many, including the one at Greenwich). The stunning secret? I found this museum to be particularly interesting given that many of my ancestors were, in fact, sailors and fishermen and likely sailed on a few of the types of ships that are represented in this museum.

I love ship models of old sailing ships, so this museum was a treat for me to walk through and see the incredibly detailed, took-four-years-to-make models and the rest of the paraphernalia of sailing ships. After overlooking this museum on several visits to Oslo, favouring the Fram and the somewhat tired looking Kon-tiki instead, I ended up spending a very enjoyable hour or two in this museum.
