No aircondition, and a lot of steps. We had a stroller, which was difficult to manouver up and down the steps. Really hot inside the ballroom.

enclosed military area, children will appreciate the open space in the park, ideal for picnic, large ships are moored right next to the fortress, changing of the guards quite impressive

We just walked around the grounds as the castle was shut. The grounds are very interesting with lots to be seen and great views of the harbour.

A walk around a castle still being used for formal occasions. Not much content but worth a walk around if it is raining or cold. Worth a visit but don't be upset if you don't have time to go see it.

I didn't go in the castle, just walked around the grounds, but you get some great views from the top of the fortress. Well worth a visit.

Visit to the castle is nice for the views of the city. We had a cruis ship blocking the view but it left just when we where there. So we saw the sailaway. At 13.30 the gaurds change and you can have a look at the gaurds parading by. It takes place at the lower castle.

Akershus Festings is an average castle / fortress with not much to do or see except the great views of the sea from the various walls and turrets . Also the Resistance Museum though small is worth a visit .
