A small place to visit which explains the history of the station and Royal visits. Only £2 and if you're with kids they might enjoy getting on the model train carriage. A quick stop to keep out of the rain maybe.

lovely old staion well kept very helpful staff in the tourist information office
The cafe/restaurant at the Old Royal Station used to have some character, but this is now somehow absent. There are now much better/cosier/ friendlier places to eat and drink coffee in Ballater

A small museum but you can sense the royal connection if that is your thing. Children are most fascinated by the beautiful "throne" onnce graced by HIHQueen Victoria's buttocks! I summary a small part of the Royal deeside Experience which should not be missed.and for such a modest fee!
Nice lunch menu, will go back. Comfy surroundings and morning coffee with the papers is relaxing.

This is a truly remarkable exhibition depicting the formation of railways in Ballater from Victorian times right through to its final closure in 1966. The various audio presentations and the plush Royal carriage which sits on a length of railway line at the old station platform depict a very realistic display.
The £2 entry charge represents the best value for...
