Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have visited Scotland several times now and consider Ian and Patti family. I have used their services for every trip. They go above and beyond making the experience feel personalized just for you! Ian is not only knowledgeable but also very passionate about Scotland which makes for a perfect tour guide. The experience is authentic and Ian will always find something new for you to see, no matter how many times you’ve visited.

It’s hard to express just how beautiful the countryside of Scotland is through words but it is truly one place I believe everyone should try to visit. It is so rich in culture and an experience that you’ll never forget. With traveling being uncertain right now, the virtual tour they are offering is a great way to get a taste of Scotland. The photos and videos throughout the tour will have you planning your next trip!

I would highly recommend using Ian as a tour guide. He is truly one of a kind and has an awesome sense of humor so it is never boring. He even made arrangements for me to go bungee jumping last minute during one of our trips. As I said before, he will go above and beyond to make it the best experience possible. He also knows the best places for fish and chips, which is a must when in Scotland!

Overall, I love Ian and Patti and would recommend their services to anyone!

What a lovely review Raetchel! We can't begin to express how much this means to us, and how much the feelings are reciprocated. We can't wait until you and your family are able to return to our bonny shores!

We were planning our first trip to Scotland as a Family to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary.Unfortunately due to Covid and travel restrictions we were forced to cancel. As a surprise gift, we had booked with Highland Tours Perthshire and were planning a whole day tour through our Ancestor's village in the Little Dunkeld/Birnham area. Patti and Ian had prepared a great itinerary with exciting stops along the way. Seeing that we were so disappointed to cancel our trip, they offered to give us a virtual guided tour through Zoom instead. Well. Let me tell you! They went above and beyond in the preparation of our visit.! With the aid of a camera mounted on his van, Ian was able to show us the sites while giving us some historical notes and facts about the area. The presentation took about 45 minutes and was complete with maps, research on our ancestors and a surprise relative that Ian was able to find! We were even able to record the presentation and keep as a souvenir! We are so grateful to Ian and Patti who make a great duo for organizing and researching. It was a sweet consolation prize for our cancelled trip. We highly highly recommend Highland Tours Perthshire. We will be booking again when in Scotland!

Steve - it was our absolute pleasure. Our Ancestry Tours are hands down our favourite, as it is so rewarding to know we have helped bring families personal histories to life. We are very much looking forward to when we can finally get you 'on tour'! All the best.

A week prior to traveling to Scotland I found out my prior plans were cancelled. I hopped online and found Highland Tours. I emailed asking if they were available and Patti promptly replied. Patti made the booking process so easy and quick!!

Ian picked me up from my resort on time in full Scottish dress. We was friendly and offered me water, snacks and ensured I was comfortable for our journey.

I left my points of interest in Patti and Ian’s hands and I am so very grateful I did. It’s hard to put into words the experience I had from seeing the countryside on the top of a mountain to seeing a hidden gem in the countryside. I felt overwhelmed on a few occasions with the countries beauty and heartfelt history.

Ian was funny and extremely knowledgeable of his country which made the trip exciting the entire day. Although I was alone I never felt weird or concerned. Ian is AWESOME!!! I confidently say I received an authentic Scotland experience.

You’ll do yourself a disservice not booking with Patti and Ian’s Highland Tours Perthshire.

We hired Ian to simply take us from Pitlochry to Edinburgh and he was kind enough to wait for us while we attended an event there and then had lunch. He then exceeded ALL expectations when he keyed in on our conversation that we wanted to see highland cows and forth bridge, and he stopped at some great spots on the way back to Pitlochry for us to experience these. He didn't have to make these stops (of which we spent considerable time) He would have gotten paid the same either way, but he knew we wanted to see them and he made it happen (without us even asking) And he knew so much about the history (turns out he used to be a school teacher) I hope we come back to the area again some day so we can take a longer tour with Ian!

While visiting Pitlochry with a Ben Folds tour, we needed a last minute ride to Edinburgh for a book signing. We called a few taxi companies suggested by the hotel. Two couldn’t get to us for a couple of hours and one never returned our call. We found Ian online and called. We told him that we needed a ride ASAP and he said “I can be there in 20-30 minutes.” He was such a blast on our trip to Edinburgh. He even pointed out a few sites and told us some history. We discussed how we liked a few of the bridges and the Highland cows.

We told him we needed a couple hours in Edinburgh and asked if he’d be able to wait for us and then drive us back to Pitlochry. He rearranged a couple of things so he could make it work.

On the way back he remembered that we liked the bridges so he stopped so we could get some photos. He also remembered that we loved the cows and stopped somewhere so we could see some up close. He even bought some cow food for us so we could feed them!!

Ian really made our trip such a blast. This was one of our favorite days on our trip and we owe a lot of that to Ian.

He even messaged me a couple of days later to let us know about an event nearby that he thought our group would be interested in!

Thanks Ian for making our trip so memorable!

I contacted Highland Tours a few months prior to my Scotland holiday. I was looking into my family history and had discovered the locations of three family farms dating back to the early 1800's. After contacting Ian and Patti of Highland Tours and asking for their assistance in visiting these locations I came to the realization that I had made the right choice.

Right from the start, Highland Tours kept in regular contact with me to determine my needs. They came up with a perfect plan for my full day tour. What really set Highland Tours apart from other operators was the extra time and effort in making arrangements with current property owners so that I could learn more about my family connection to Perthshire and Scotland.

Patti and Ian of Highland Tours made my friend and I feel most welcome and gave us a most memorable experience that we will talk about for years to come.
