Chepstow Castle couldn't be located in a better position.Perched high above the River Wye, the Valley and the River Wye Bridge, it provides great views for the visitor.Though obviously not in the same league as Raglan or Caerphilly Castle's this grand old medievel biulding is well worth a visit, plenty of the Castle can still be accessed even with repair... Chepstow is a really a small drive-through town on the border of England and Wales but so easy to get to fomr the Severn Bridge which links Wales and England. The castle is a little smaller than others around.

This was my first port of call on a visit to Wales many years ago. It was an interesting couple of hours, but having visited several castles since, it's not a lot different to the others.

Chepstow is a charming castle town and the castle perched on the banks of the Wye is very representative of castles of the age. We enjoyed the room decorated as it would have been at its heyday. Lots of families and children running around and enjoying the views.

Wonderful castle. Views from the castle offer stunning vistas of the Wye. Quite steep so may not be accessible to all.

£4 entry or free if you are a English Heritage member - £2 if in your first year of membership. Takes about an hour to go round. Quite steep so may not be accessible for those with walking problems.
