Went to Buxton for the day from Manchester. It is about 55 mins journey. Excellent little place. along the lines of Bath but much smaller. Nice journey out through the countryside and into the peak district. Pooles Cavern is on the way out from Buxton Pavillion towards Solomons Temple which is a walk that takes you up on a ridge... Very friendly and knowledgeable guides and it was a very interesting little attraction, possibly a little expensive entry but did enjoy ourselves. Also very handy for go ape if you wanted to make a full day of it. Absolutely gorgeous walking route to solomons temple as well. Highly reccomended More

My party consisted of my husband my daughter 8 and me! We paid £19.95 for 1 child 1 student and 1 adult! Tha cave was very interesting and the guide was knowledgeable. My daughter loves history and we were just fascinated with the people who may have visited here especially the scrolling on the walls! Wear wellies and a coat... More

I love looking in the caverns of the peak district and this one didn't disappoint. You can spend a good day here as there are other places to visit around it e.g. Buxton Country Park and Go-ape. Car parking is £1 for 4 hrs or £2 all day. The cavern isn't the biggest in the world but, with the help... More

Here's a good chance to see inside a big cave in comfort and with plenty of lighting. The formations in the cave like the stalactites and stalagmites are interesting and there were interesting patterns on the walls. The guide was good as well. It was a bit expensive though as there's nothing really except the cave to see. Take strong... More

We took our teenage son and his girlfriend to the cavern on a wet morning. Very interesting visit to the caves; the guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant and seemed to be enjoying her job and let everyone ask questions. The tour had about 12 people in it and they were leaving the cafe every 40 minutes or so. Car... More

It's cold in here! Wear something warm and be prepared to be dripped upon. Access is easy for elderly and kids alike although not pushchairs. The guide was entertaining and happy to answer questions, there's an efficient and decent cafe at the entrance as well as a toddlers play area to occupy them while you wait for the next tour. More
