On a recent visit to Orkney in August this year, we were very fortunate to visit the Broch of Gurness on a lovely sunny day. We actually arrived there before the attendant and found the area to be very peaceful – so peaceful in fact that we spotted seals basking on the rocks before the visitors arrived! A great example of an Iron-Age settlement. I visited this site as a child and an adult and it's great to be able to wander all over the place. more
