It was a LONG walk to the monument but even my four year old managed it. It is a shame there is nothing else really around there but my three children enjoyed looking at the monument and my 8 year old enjoyed reading all about Nelson and why the monument is there.

i am sorry to say that i found this a little boring maybe it was because we had been to yesterdays world first.

The Nelson Monument, although probably quite interesting, is quite a long walk out of town and placed smack bang in the middle of an industrial estate.

What a gret tribute to Lord Nelson - I had no idea it existed, but was pleasantly surpised to stumble upon this huge monument as I walked the empty (except for a few drunks stumbling home) streets early in the morning.

Hidden away near the outer harbour, Britannia looks down in memory of Norfolk's famous son, a true Hero. Take time to pass through the less picturesque part of town and be surprised by the column.

Great monument well kept and excellent views when it is open. The story goes that when it was build and builder realised his mistake he through himself off the top. But it was definately a mistake. But non the less a great bit of Nelson history

Nelson's Monument is well worth a visit when in Great Yarmouth. It isn't easy to get there, we took the land train to the fun fair, then walked a few streets, It is on South Denes. Why does he face inwards & not to the sea? Nelson landed at Great Yarmouth early 1800s on the jetty.
