The shear size of the statue was breathtaking! from the distance it looks superb too, but close up the structure is superb. Not really a long visit though. Just a quck look is enough!

We waited for a nice sunny day to visit the Angel and wow was it worth the visit. So many people think that because they have had a glimpse of this from the motorway, that they can form an opinion about it, but they can't !. Until you have actually walked up to it and seen it up close, you...

Its an amazing piece of art. Its strong - powerful and yet, something so magical about it.
Here on business, and finally during this trip a colleague drove me out to see this statue. Amazing. Weather was perfect and we were able to spend a nice time sitting there not only viewing this amazing sculpture, but also the surrounding view.
We decided to stop off at the Angel on the way up to Newcastle and glad we did. Plenty of room to park when we got there (saying that, the weather was dire so may be a different story in summer!) and plenty of photo opportunities. If you're passing, it's worth the detour.
We went here with a large group 10 adults plus 2 children for lunch. staff where very friendly and welcoming was quiet which i found surprising as its lovely inside. They do a great lunch time set menu with plenty of choice. Was around £7 for three course. Everone was very pleased with food and the roast was lovely! would...

If you are driving past this way then you should drop off the motorway and take a look, avery imposing structure, but be warned when you come back out of the car park you have to turn left and travel some distance before you can turn round and head back to the motorway.
When the Angel first went up us locals thought "what the hell" but now its a landmark for Gateshead and as much as we laugh at it its a landmark that everyone talks about and it doesnt look so bad now its weathered a bit
you've just got to see it. I personally love it and all it represents. Any ameteur photographer should stop off for a quick walk around it to grab some shots. THEN.. come back on a different day and the whole scene will have changed as seasons change and other times of day give you different levels of light. Beautiful.
On my doorstep but still surprised at the amount of visitors it attracts every time I pass. Was the catalyst that helped Gateshead gain a national identity.
