Sandworld is an all weather attraction, showcasing the talents of International and UK Sand Sculptors undercover in a huge marquee. There is a large covered sand pit, and visitors are encouraged to "have a go" at sandsculpting having been inspired by what they have seen. It is sometimes possible to engage with artists as they work on new pieces which are added to the site from time to time, and always possible to relax with a drink, snack or icecream at the on site cafe. Activities such as filling sand bottles are available at extra cost, and a gift shop completes the experience where you can buy a postcard of your favourite sculpture or a souvenier of your visit. The attraction has a link to Weymouths long tradition of Sand Sculpting, as Mark Anderson - co-founder of Sandworld - is the grandson of Fred Darrington, who began sculpting on Weymouth beach back in the 1920's. Mark is an International Master in his own right, and can often be found in the sandpit at Sandworld helping aspiring sculptors - young and old - to engage in this most therapeutic of activities. All are welcome at Sandworld - please come and see us! Check website for opening times and details of special events. « less

We visited Sandworld with our group and had a very enjoyable day with the help of staff who were very helpful and attentive to our group. We had several wheelchair members with us and the venue was great for them with very easy access, as too the less mobile walkers. We were allowed to have our picnic on the premises... More

Thankyou for your kind review, we really do appreciate your feedback. We have tried to make access easy for all. We will investigate swapping one of our standard Portaloos for a disabled one, but we have no drainage on site so cannot upgrade to proper loos ;-( There are disabled loos in the adjacent public car park, but understand that... Some great pieces of artwork displayed and if u can get to chat to the artists they r very informative and willing to answer any questions. cafe is reasonable and welcoming staff smiled sweetly. A little over priced as the artwork doesn't change that frequently. A sheltered giant sandpit looks great for the kuds if the weather is 2 wet... More

Thanks for the review bigbirdbec we are glad you enjoyed your visit. We have a rolling programme to replace our sculptures. By the time we pay to prepare the sand in "pound ups", fly artists in from around the world, pay for transfers, accommodation, food and a daily fee to sculpt for us, each of the major pieces cost us... Took my Niece and Nephew and had a good day, not the biggest attraction I have ever been to but the skill involved has to be appreciated. If you can get a discount voucher all the better as you will only need an hour here if you don't want to play in the sand pits.

These creations are well worth seeing, the effort and time that has gone into them is unbelievable we were in there a long time, and you can keep on finding different things on each sculpture every time.

Just brilliant! These amazing sculptures totally took my breath away. Please go. They'll also show you how to sculpt a sand dragon in their sand pit!

There is no doubt that the sculptures inside are amazing, however the money you pay for the attraction doesn't not match up with the length of time you can spend in there. Staff were friendly, about the only plus.

Maybe you know all about Greek Mythology already? The stories of Heracles, Icarus, Medusa, The Tojan Horse? What about the ancient Greek statue of Discobolus? Nike? Throw in a giant sand castle and an underwater fantasy for good measure. We currently have 15 world class sculptures at Sandworld, some are works in progress where you may be able to watch... More
