- Ragdoll34March, United Kingdom15 contributionsChildhood MemoriesWhat a lovely place to visit - young or old. Visited Hilltop Cottage 40 years ago and this takes you right back to your childhood. The attention to detail is fantastic - well done to all those involved in bringing this to life. Yes a little wait to get in but worth it once in there - would recommend to anyone visiting the area.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 April 2023
- Muskrat71Towcester, United Kingdom22 contributionsA trip down memory lane...What a great experience, a wonderful trip down memory lane, remembering all the books and characters from childhood. A very educational and enjoyable time was had, especially as it was out of the rain. Lots to learn about Beatrix Potter, her life and books, a cafe and a gift shop. Great for young kids/families.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2023
- jenny2032016Andover, United Kingdom123 contributionsLovely place to spend an hourWe visited here as we found we had some time on our hands before our return trip on the boat. Wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a pure delight. The models are beautiful and littles ones will love seeing Peter and his friends come to life. Loved the screens getting you to find things. We spent longer there than expected but a great think to do especially if it is raining as fully indoors except the gold medal garden, loved seeing the scarecrow with Peters jacket and shoes dangling in the wind. It was a little pricey especially if you have a few little ones but they do offer a family ticket.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 May 2023
- trustascotPerth, Australia713 contributionsA must for any age.We were talked in to visit by a school teacher friend and we were all presently surprised. We range in age from 50 to 83 and we were very impressed with the work that had gone into creating this fairy tale. The restaurant attached is also excellent as was the gift shop. Give it a go even if you do not have kids you will be impressedVisited June 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 4 June 2023
- L789Shrewsbury, United Kingdom94 contributionsLovely experience for allReally lovely place to visit, as an adult the displays are beautiful and nice to see all the characters. Little one (3 year old) absolutely loved it and was very excited to see them all. He particularly liked the garden, running round looking for all the things on the trail.Visited May 2023Written 8 June 2023
- ljhatfieldAtlanta, Georgia14 contributionsAmazingI don't care how old you are, if you have ever heard of Peter Rabbit and Beatrix Potter you will love this adorable walk through museum. We took our kids 10 and 12 and I was worried they would not care for it. But they loved it. so much to see, can walk through in 45 mins or an hour and 30 mins depending how long to spend looking at things. It was adorable. Loved it.Visited May 2023Written 12 June 2023

- Julianne DEyemouth, United Kingdom82 contributionsA must visitWe visited as myself, hubby, teen son and my parents. The attraction is beautiful. We all enjoyed it. The displays are wonderful and it's well laid out. It's self guided so you wander through at your own pace but I'd say it takes 45-60mins. It's nice find out more about beatrix potter and how her stories began. Must visit.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 July 2023
- Jeffrey7005 contributionsWonderfulBeen a few years since going here. But decided to see what it is like now. You watch a short film about beatrix potter. Then in to the main part where the displays of all things Peter Rabit and his friends scenes. There is an outside are where you can find Mr Mcgregor's garden, then back in to the rest of it. I was happy to see that it was all still as amazing as it was best part of 20 years ago. The only thing that I did find disappointing was that they have had to put up perspex in front of some of the displays. I can only.asume that this to to protect the displays from people touching themVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 July 2023
- Mrs DGlasgow, United Kingdom18 contributionsExcellent attractionWe absolutely loved visiting the theatre and the attraction. We went on Peter Rabbits birthday week so we got a great deal on 2-1 tickets. My little one has only just turned 2 and she absolutely loved the theatre show it really captivated her. The walk around the attraction was amazing with all the little scenes. We enjoyed lunch in the cafe which was lovely! I'd definitely recommend a visit here!Thank you so much for your lovely review - it's great to hear you enjoyed it.Written 20 July 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 July 2023

Excellent attraction, with informative exhibits. Very basic, but absolutely does the job. The garden was excellent. On the pricy side with some add-ons for what it is but highly recommended

The venue appears small and the entrance fee was very reasonable, so we were not expecting much, however the building was like a Tardis with excellent use of space. The standard of the characters are at Disney levels. The exhibition was exemplary and a joy for all ages. I highly recommend a visit

We took our grandchildren here during half-term and it was very sweet. Lots of nice photo opportunities, although a bit dated. I'm certain I recall bringing my own daughter here in the 1990s, and not much had changed!

A small, clean, attraction but very nicely done, starting with a short introductory film. A walk through exhibit with models in displays. An interactive screen near each display for extra information about the relevant story and the truths they were based upon. Items for the youngsters to look for in the displays too. The sets all blended nicely together in a sort of woodland walk feel. Music and lighting effects and lovely photo opportunities if not too busy. A section of more in depth history about the buildings/local area and Beatrix's life is at the end, which was more interesting for adults. There is a door to the small outside garden which is small but had a lot of thought put into in and obviously would be nicer in summer than a rainy day in November. This is near the start of the walk though so you are quickly back inside. I was actually in there for about 80 minutes which I was surprised by as it was small. Nice shop and large cafe with some outside seating at the end and clean loos etc. Prices same as everywhere else. The staff were all lovely and smiley and polite in every section but particularly the young girl at the entrance Chelsea, who was smiley and enthusiastic despite the atrocious weather, She put my brolly behind the counter as it was dripping. Great welcoming customer service. I actually learned a lot .Nice way to spend a wet afternoon, concession for over 60's, £8 not too bad these days.

The attraction exceeded our expectations,we had children with us from age 4 to one year old and they all had a great time,on arrival there is a short film lasting about 5 mins, then you can take your time to wander around the attraction, the displays and figures are all very well done and lovely photo opportunities,we were there inpouring rain so mr mcgregors garden was a bit damp but good fun.The gift shop was very tempting, lots of things to buy.I would recommend paying a visit.

Visited with a 1 year old and a 5 year old. They both had a magical time, the 5 year old had a quiz to complete that was reasonably set for her age group. We all loved the garden and the wee tips on how to make your garden inviting to animals and allow them to keep warm and safe over the weekend. The attraction is well laid out and allows you to step into the tales of Beatrix Potters characters, the figures and scenes are really well done.
Only thing I’d say is the hill up to entrance is quite steep, if you have any issues or concerns with mobility it might be too much for you.

The attraction itself was great and the kids loved it. However, we queued up for food and drink at the cafe, very slow service and rude staff, only to be told they don’t serve food until 11:30. There was nothing on the menu to say this and it would have been good to know in advance of queuing. With two hangry toddlers, we then had a hasty search around Bowness for another place to eat which made the visit stressful.

decided to visit while in the area on a family holiday. Allows everyone to enjoy and get stuck into the many stories of the famous author. Was a nice but short walkthrough attraction which went into the many characters and the general history of beatrix potter. Little one enjoyed seeing the characters of course! Also had a small cafe serving small bites to eat. Nice sausage sandwich! Overall okay but i did feel it needed a little more.

We were 2 adults visiting with our 1 year old as something to do on another rainy day in the Lake District. We were very surprised by how much we all enjoyed this little attraction. Yes you can't really spend more than 45 minutes here, but there was a lot more to see that we had thought there would be and lots and lots of great photo opportunities. Our 1 year old loved it too :-D
Slightly disappointing was that the lights were out on several of the cubby holes so you couldn't see inside the animal dwellings inside the tree at all (just after garden doors) and then there were a few interactive screens around the building that didn't work. I did mention these to staff as we were leaving, so hopefully they did something about these.
Blurb:
"An enchanting visitor attraction where Beatrix Potter’s magical stories are brought to life in 3D.
Meet Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle Duck and all their friends in a magical indoor recreation of Beatrix Potter classic tales, with the sights, sounds and also the smells of the countryside. You will be able to see Mrs Tiggy-winkle in the kitchen, go past Jeremy Fisher's Pond, step into Mr McGregor’s kitchen garden and even walk through Squirrel Nutkin's Old Oak Tree."
Expect to spend around 45 minutes here. Tickets are £9 each and children under 3 are free. The attraction is pram friendly, except for the tiny garden which has a few stairs but we still managed with the pram. There are actually 3 entrances to the building, so if visiting with a pram I suggest using the one from the main road as this is less steep.
We were so impressed with the experience that we told our friends who are now visiting next week and our parents have plans to visit soon as well.
Located in central Bowness and a 2 minute walk from a carpark that has electrical car charging.

Is it near Windermere railway station ? How long in the queue during August before you're inside? Is it near a cafe where we could have lunch? Are there any other things for kids nearby ? Looking forward to your replys as it looks a great place to visit. Thank you
World of Beatrix Potter Attraction
Bowness-on-Windermere, UK
Hi there, we look forward to welcoming you to the Attraction. We rarely get any queues at the Attraction outside of August school holiday wet days, so simply arrive at the Attraction to purchase your ticket at the front desk.
We are situated 1.3 miles from Windermere train station - this would be about a 30 minute downhill walk or a short bus or taxi ride.
We have a lovely cafe in our Attraction which bakes fresh cakes and scones every day. We also offer organic salads grown in our own kitchen garden, afternoon teas, sandwiches etc. All highly recommended!
The area is great for families, we are a 5 minute walk from the Lake. You can take a cruise, ride a steam train, visit the aquarium, go to brockhole or the local motor museum. There is also the new Windermere Jetty museum just opened up the road. Other than that there are so many beautiful walks to get ALL THE VIEWS - the best you'll see. Come soon and enjoy!
Hi. Are you able to visit the tea room without paying entry to the attraction? Thanks
