After a meal at Bosun's Locker, wait for the ferry boat to take you to the Island. The tranquility is something else, the pub very welcoming & views excellant on a clear day. Just bear in mind, to ask about the return ferry or you may have to stay the night.

A lovely little island with its one pub. The old ruins are great to walk around and to walk the shore of the island all the way round takes 30 mins. The ferry from Roe Island runs in the summer months and is a pleasure experience in its own right. Pick a nice day to visit though.

I visited Piel Island with friends a couple of years ago. It is fun to go across on the boat but we just felt there wasn't that much to see once you got there.

We have just read a report on this site saying the staff were swearing but I can tell you there is no bad language allowed in the pub as the lifeboat swear box is full of pounds. The staff went out of their way to make our stay wonderful even filling the children's hot water bottles and our flask for... More

Nice for a stroll around, not a lot going on,used to stop there regularly when I had a fishing trawler, stopped for the night and had a few beers with the king of the island. In the summer you you can get a boat over from the mainland.
