Well defined walking paths with rugged scenery. The weather on the North East Coast is Refreshing to say the least. Take a good coat/cagoul & keep warm. Friendly locals with plenty of choice to visit local attractions.

The coastal path is a lovely walk, intersperced with information boards it is very peaceful. Children love to run on the beach and collect shells itis a very unspoilt area.

We visited Seaham Harbour and Roker Sands, Souter Lighthouse and South Shields. Very bracing with the strong winds from the North Sea but an excellent day of sightseeing. The lighthouse is well worth a visit.

We live on the East Durham Coast and I am lucky enough to be able to walk the cliff tops of Seaham and Easington most days. Good open sea views and bracing walks.Easy access from motorways and from Durham City .There are 'commercial'seaside resorts and industrial harbours,so check you maps.
