The beautifully refurbished PLAYHOUSE is the flagship of a major regeneration project in Whitley Bay, breathing new life into this famous coastal resort.The venue boasts 630 luxury auditorium seats, a 10 seater corporate viewing suite and a contemporary look and feel to it's bars and first floor lounge area which features a superb sea view.The PLAYHOUSE has hosted stage shows such as professional touring 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' and from the West End 'The Rat Pack - Live from Las Vegas', Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's 'Tell Me on a Sunday' as well as live music from Kate Rusby, Seth Lakeman and Tom Paxton, comedy from Rich Hall, as well as entertainment from Moscow Ballet la Classique and Bob the Builder.

Recently refurbished this is now clean and modern and is reflected in the quality of the productions that are held here but not in the price tag.

It is a nice Small provincial theatre but charges Theatre Royal prices. There is no comparison between the two venues.

Last went here to watch the Christmas Panto and enjoyed the experience. Staff were very friendly, refreshments fine and seats bearable. Parking and access was also fine.

If you ever went to the old Playhouse, the recent renovations have made a huge difference and created a brighter and more comfortable venue. Better class of act being attracted too.
