The Highland Folk Museum is a fantastic living history resource. There is the 1930's section with farm, school, crofters house and station and then there's the 1700's section with traditional houses and crafts. The Highland Folk museum was very good for us and our children: friendly, child-focussed staff who took a pride in what they were doing, lots to touch, an amazingly naturalistic approach, opposite that of many sites (hens and chicks running loose, very little screwed down in displays). Free to visit and really interesting. Staff on hand to chat, a pleasant walk or 'train ride' through the woods, interesting displays and buildings. Well worth a visit. more

The Highland Folk Museum is a fabulous place to visit,it has exhibitions,displays and you can experience life in the 1700s village.There is so much to see here from a Croft farm,farming machinery,old fashioned sweetshop,a church,a school,workshops,farm animals,bus tour and much more.... The Newtonmore museum is a fabulous venue - a family can spend hours there. wee buses run the site and when we were there the activities encouraged participation (We stayed 4hrs and could have spent longer) Friendly staff made it a great day out more
