This is a very interesting house in excellent condition, near to Stirling Castle. It was made even better by the guide (Frank) who was brimming with facts which brought the house to life, sometimes he slipped into character and acted some of the parts of the residents and servants, occasionally in the old Scots language.

Although there is a lot of history associated with this building, I don't know that I thought that it was worth the extra cost to tour. The tour was included in our Scottish Heritage Pass, so we decided to take it. It came highly recommended. However, except for the original structures, most everything inside is a recreation. Set near Stirling Castle, and available to anyone with a ticket to the castle, Argyll's lodging is a prime example of a nobleman's house under the Stuarts. Definitely worth spending an hour of your visit to Stirling here.

I did a tour of this house from Stirling Castle, the guide Ross was really interesting & insightful. The restoration of this house to it's former glory is really impressive & you get a real sense from it & from the guide of how people lived in the house. Definitely one of my highlights in Stirling.

this tour is an extra £2.00 on top of the admission to the castle and worth every penny.

Belonged to one of the most powerful men in Scotland, Archibald Campbell, Duke of Argyll. Certain rooms looked amazing and others required a bit more imagination, but the guide was very helpful.

Before or after Stirling Castle guided tor, this is a must. It is like a nice dessert after main or a good antipasti before mains. Must must do if you are visiting Stirling Castle.

After the biz at the Castle this is a bit more quiet - there's a constant theme in my reviews - I love quiet. The house is VERY interesting and has been recently done up.
