Well what can i say??? What a fantastic place to visit!! It is incredibly spooky and bursting with eerie history!! There is information to read everywhere, we were in there for hours and the admission price is £6.50 per adult... BARGAIN!!! Well worth a visit!!

The jail is an imposing and historically vital part of Bodmin's history, clearly the fabric of the building has suffered hugely over the decades and there was a lot of evidence when we visited that repairs and renovations are being conducted. However, the overall tone of how the museum side of things is marketed left us wondering. Far too many... More

Cells are dimly lit. There are the stories of the murderers and dummy's bodies everywhere. Parts are still derelict. You climb the staircases and learn about life in this amazing jail. You can see the execution shed all ready. Good value for money and well worth a trip.

We spent a couple of hours in the jail, followed by dinner in their dining room. The jail is spooky (probably made more so by the very creepy mannequins) and chilly. Bring a jacket, and be prepared to do some reading. You'll learn a lot about what prison life was like when this was a functioning facility. It may not... More

This is our second visit, our 2 boys wanted to return again. Reasonable entry price. You enter through a door in the bar area. Down some steps and immediately it feels very spooky. As we continued round, as on our prior visit I began to feel very light-headed. There is definately something in the atmosphere. The boys loved it. Had... More

We visited the Bodmin Jail (or gaol) with our daughters who had been before. I'd not been before but they wanted to return! I would say its a real eye opener to the state of prison life back in history. A world apart from modern day prisons. This exhibit is spooky, and cold, but this just added to the effect... More

Possibly because I live just around the corner and am quite a regular visitor, the novelty has worn off over the years. The food is good and the tour of the actual Jail is "spooky" ! Worth a visit, make your own mind up. Oh,the Beer is good too !
