The buildings that comprise Drum castle are virtually a history of Scotland. The guides were really informative and the welcome was warm despite the fact it was a freezing day! We would have lingered longer on the ramparts of the tower if it had not been so cold because the views were spectacular.

Wonderful to see the architecture from a 13th century Tower house to the Victorian additions. Love the gardens and woodland trails as well.

I first stumbled upon Drum Castle as I was walking through Drum Estate woods and as I approached the clearing, saw this wonderful high towered castle right there in front and to the right of me. I took a walk through the front courtyard and around the castle, marvelling as I did so, wondering of the stories those thick strong... More

If you're in the area (roughly 20 mins drive from aberdeen city centre) this is worth a look. The woods themselves are very pretty for a stroll round.

Very informative visit often repeated by us and with one of the most exciting backgrounds of any castle in the area. Gifted to the Irvine family by Robert The Bruce, the old tower dates from the 12th/13th centuries and the gardens and grounds are a pleasure to visit.

Had a great time with the kids here, especially in the walled garden where they were having a sculpture exhibition and a great safe place for the kids to run around. The castle is small enough to keep my young children engaged for the half hour walk round inside.

An enjoyable day out at Drum Castle in the September sunshine. A little pricey as you have to pay entry and car park fees but this is expected at a National Trust property. It is easy to walk about the house and there are assistants well located to give extra pieces of information and ideas about how the family lived... More
