Donnafugata was created in Sicily by an enterprising family with 160 years’ experience in premium wines. The adventure began in the Rallo family’s historic cellars in Marsala in 1983 and at its Contessa Entellina vineyards in the heart of western Sicily. In 1989 Donnafugata arrived on the island of Pantelleria, starting to produce naturally sweet wines. « less

Been here with my husband and two friends last year. We had the chance to have the Marketing Director guiding us in the tour and telling us the marvelous story behind the beginnings and the artistic side of this winery. In Marsala you can actually visit the historic cellar of this family-run company, while the vineyards stand 35 miles away.... More

We made a day trip of our Marsala visit, with winery reservations in the morning and the evening. Unfortunately, we didn't find there to be too much to do after our first visit until our scheduled appt at 17:00. We wandered the city for a while, and tried to visit Donnafugata early, only to be stopped by their security guard... More

As I've mentioned in other reviews - winery visits are challenging in Sicily but a large producer like D.Fugata tends to be a bit more organized. We joined a group tour one afternoon. It was a bit rushed and cold compared to some other experiences we had. Hopefully next time we can do a better job at finding local producers.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that the tour seemed a bit rushed as we usually focus on highly customized tours. August, September and October are generally the busiest months for our winery so this may have caused lack in organizing and making the tour more unpersonal. Anyhow, this is why comments like yours are very important... More

Went to winery on October 31. We were greeted and showed the winery facilities and taught about the wine process. This was followed by a group lunch accompanied by wines. The good was outstanding, lasting four courses from olives, ricotta, anchovies, couscous, cheese, salami and a sweet, warm dessert of ricotta dumplings. All this paired with the appropriate wines.
