I first travelled to Portovenere for a Cooking Tour with Chef Paolo Monti in 1999 and have been returning there every year since. I fell in love with this little fishing village - it totally enamoured me. I love the people, the village, the atmosphere, the food, the little difficulty in getting there, it always surprises me with its hidden...

Are you in La Spezia area, maybe visiting "5 terre"? well this is a village really worth a visit. Catch a bus from the centre (try to avoid the car if possible because there is not so much space for parking and it is also quite expensive) or a boat from La Spezia pier and get off at central square....

Such a great little town. Everyone was very nice and the castle is so fun to explore! Only a short ferry-ride to Cinque Terre, and a very scenic ride!
